Nourish The Tree

I am just hooked on Alma 32...I love the whole metaphor of the seed and the tree and the ground and the nourishing. We've got roots! That's for sure. The point I want to make is that the seed needs nourishment. And that is constant care, like reading the scriptures, prayer, being obedient, etc. etc. Dad and I feel a lot like Lehi in the Book of Mormon..."And as I partook of the fruit thereof it filled my soul with exceedingly great joy; wherefore, I began to be desirous that my family should partake of it also; for I knew that it was desirable above all other fruit."

This weekend we had the opportunity to go to the Temple to be with Tommy Wall and Boomer Hawks and their families in the Temple as the boys prepare for their missions. Yesterday was an open house for Brandon Prettyman as he goes into the MTC on Wednesday. Each of these boys "glow." They are so excited and so happy about their mission calls. You can see God's image in their countenances. I couldn't help but think back to when Bryant was going on his mission. What an emotional time for us. We were happy and sad at the same time. But mostly we were blessed because of Bryant's obedience and sacrafice. Now I look at little Will and I am so grateful for his good parents and know that in 18 1/2 years he, too, will be ready to serve

A Challenge

So Jake and I have been watching a lot of tv and decided to take pick at least one day of the week and not turn on the TV at all. We challenge you guys to do the same. We are going to do Mon ( our fam home evening day). So, we challenge you guys to do the same...no TV, no movies, and no excessive internet surfing for one day a week. Go for a walk, a hike, start reading a book together, clean, make dinner together, do random service for people you don't know, go to bed early! Let me know how it all goes!

hi Ya'll (thats what everyone says here in TX) Jeron and I have made great friends with Vanessa And Eder..... (jeron works with him) They are really down to earth and are SO good with charly. They are our age and both mexican.....(jeron fits right in with them... lol kidding) Last night the 4 1/2 of us went to a carnival.... we all took turns riding the rides and watching charly.... then we all stuffed our faces with corn on the cob, cotton candy (which charly loved), and caramel apples YUMM. we watched all the animals in the petting zoo, got fake tattoos (some things never get old) and just sat and talked. It was so fun. It just made me feel so good.....Just in the sense of me and jeron and charly being our own little family in Texas..... 100's of miles from where we were raised..........being on our own... not depending on anyone anymore.... and being so happy together. I feel like we have come so far from where we were 2 years ago... when I didn't eve...
