Flying and the FAA Computer Outage!!
It all sounded much too perfect. A weekend with my kids. I would fly out on my free jetblue ticket to Richmond, Stacey would pick me up and we would stay in a hotel and go to see Bryant and Kristie around 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.
It all played out like this. I got to JFK, didn't have to check in because I just had carry-on. Looking for something to eat, when I noticed a line at customer service. I went over to see the boards and what was going on when I noticed the flight to Richmond wasn't on the board. So, I asked someone and was told about 3 hours delay. So me, being so savvy, decided to change my flight to Washington DC since that was leaving on time. No sooner did I hang up with Stacey to tell her a change in plans, the flight was canceled. I hurried back to customer services with my pizza in my hand was was told the flight to Richmond was also canceled. So was every other flight!! I figured I could get on a train to Maryland, but the next train was leaving in 10 minutes. The one after that at 3 a.m. and I didn't want to go to Penn Station and wait alone at 3 a.m. So I decided, why not drive.....so I did.
We ended up at Bry's at 3 p.m. instead of 9 a.m. We went to see the Tall Ships in Norfolk, then to their favorite Japanese place. We went to the ocean and looked at all the beach homes. We talked, laughed and had a great time, the four of us. On Sunday, after breakfast, we loaded up my Honda with all of Stacey's stuff that Bry and Kristie brought from Utah and headed North. Let me just say -- the trip from Washington to Richmond is murder and there's got to be a better way. Oh and Bry introduced us to Tom Tom - his new GPS friend. It was really great and we all thought a fantastic gift for Dad because he is always having to go to customer's homes, but I saw Bry shaking his head NO. He has no faith that Dad will have patience with Tom Tom. Bry and Kristie have the cutest place and no doubt in my mind, it is where the Lord wants them to be right now.
All in all, I had a perfect weekend with my kids, having just spent so much time with Jess and Jeron. I feel so blessed to have my own children - each being so different, but I realized how much I love these new people in our family!! Each one is different and brings something new and wonderful into our lives! I love you all.
